Versailles established the league of nations and blamed Germany for starting the war and paying the cost. The 14 P.P said open diplomacy and no more secret treaties in Peace or war, and Freedom of navigation which says sea should be free in peace and war.

At the beginning, they were excited, adventurous, and uncertain. In the middle, they were hopeless, horrified, and overwhelmed. At the end, nothing really changed much but they had some hope that it would end soon.
