Requirements

* 17+
* At least 3rd class medical
* 35+ hours of flight
* 3hrs dual xc,
* 3hrs night →
* 100nm xc, 10 takeoff and landings to a full stop;
* 3hrs sim inst,
* 3hrs flight training in previous 60 days,
* 5hrs solo →
* 100nm solo xc, 3 takeoffs and landings to full stop


* Ground school/written complete

Privileges and limitations of PPL

* can carry pax
* must pay pro rata share
* split three ways, pay 1/3
* one pax cannot pay more than the pilot pays
* cannot charge for maintenance costs for the flight
* cannot carry pax or cargo for compensation or hire

Docs required

* Gov’t issued photo ID
* valid pilot cert
* current medical
* flight review
* w/in preceding 24 cal months
* WINGS program
* IMSAFE checklist
* If carrying pax:
* 3 TO & landings w/in preceding 90 days in same category and class of a/c (and type if required)
* must be to full stop for night currency
* night currency counts for day, day does not count for night

Aircraft requirements for BasicMed

* cannot be certified for more than 6 occupants
* pilot counts as an occupant
* max certified takeoff weight of 6000lbs or less

Operating requirements of BasicMed

* cannot carry more than 5 pax
* can operate VFR or IFR below 18,000’ MSL
* cannot exceed 250kts
* cannot fly for compensation or hire
