Composed of muscles and tendons, Allows manipulation of the environment, locomotion, and facial expression; Maintains posture; Produces heat
Nervous System
Controls body movement; Regulates control of all body systems; Responds to sensory stimuli; Involved in consciousness, memory, personality and intelligence
Cardiovascular System
Pumps blood all over the body using blood vessels; Delivers nutrients, hormones, gases (Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide) and pick up waste products produced by the body.
Lymphatic/Immune System
Picks up fluid leaked from blood vessels and returns it to blood; Disposes of debris in the lymphatic stream; Houses white blood
Respiratory System
Exchange of gases (O2 and CO2) between the air and the blood
Digestive System
Breaks down food into absorbable units that enter the blood (absorbs nutrients); Eliminates indigestible foods as feces
Urinary System
Filters the Blood; Eliminates nitrogenous wastes from the body; Regulates water, electrolyte, and pH balance of the blood; Regulates blood volume and blood pressure; Produces Urine
Female Reproductive System
Main function is the production of offspring; Ovaries produce ova (eggs) and female sex hormones (estrogen and progesterone); Remaining structures serve as sites for fertilization and development of the fetus; Mammary glands produce milk to nourish the newborn
Male Reproductive System
Produces male sex cells (sperm) and male hormone (testosterone); Transfers sperm to female
Endocrine System
Responsible for developing and secreting hormones; Helps to control mood, development, tissue function and metabolism
