Muscular contraction without a change in muscle length. (ex pressing your foot into the floor without moving or standing)
Concentric contraction
shortening muscle contraction (ex- lofting portions of biceps curls)
Eccentric contracts
lengthening muscle contraction (ex lowering portion of biceps curl)
Plyometric Exercise
Rapid eccentric stretch of a muscle followed immediately by a rapid concentric contraction to create an explosive movement. ( ex- hops and depth jumps)
Open kinetic chains (OKC)
distal portion of extremity is free moving
Close kinetic chain(CKC)
distal portion of extremity is fixed in place
