Solute
The substance that dissolves.
Solvent
The substance that it dissolves into.
Solution
A mixture, such as the colourless mixture of sugar and water formed when sugar dissolves in water.
Sugar crystal
A structure that is visible because it is made of lots of groups of vibrating particles that are tightly packed together.
Dissolving
The process where water particles vibrate and slide past one another, bumping into vibrating sugar particles to separate them until they are no longer in groups and spread out among the water particles.
