Cornea

Photoreceptor cells concentrated in the fovea; require bright light, provide high visual acuity (sharp detail), and are sensitive to different wavelengths, making them responsible for color vision.
Pinna
The visible, external part of the ear that acts as a funnel to direct sound waves into the ear canal.
Ossicles (hammer, anvil, stirrup)
These the three tiny bones in the middle ear that amplify vibrations from the eardrum. The stirrup transmits these vibrations to the oval window, initiating a chain reaction in the inner ear.
Cochlea
Fluid-filled, snail-shaped structure in the inner ear where sound vibrations are converted into neural signals.
Basilar membrane
Located within the cochlea, it vibrates response to sound and supports the organ of Corti, which contains the hair cells.
Hair cells
Sens receptors located on the organ of Corti that convert mechanical vibrations into electrical signals sent to the brain via the auditory nerve.
