Qi Stagnation w/ Blood Stasis
sharp stabbing focal pain, with duller pain in surrounding tissues; brusing; loss of function of affected area
Blood Stasis with Heat in the Blood
local redness, local swelling, local warmth, severe pain, Bruising around the injury, Loss of function in the affected area, May be mild fever
Blood Stasis with Heat-Toxin
Intense redness in the local area, Marked swelling in the local area - the tissue may feel "tight", Burning heat in the local area, Severe throbbing pain, Abscesses or pus if the tissue has an open lesion, Might be fever, Thirst, Irritability and restlessness, Spreading redness, Lymphadenitis, Sepsis-like presentation
Phlegm Damp Accumulating in the Channels
Persistent swelling at the injury site, Hematomas that linger from the injury, Stiffness and persistent loss of function in the affected area, Dull pain in the affected area, Sensation of heaviness in the limbs or body, feeling sluggish, Symptoms worse in damp weather
Qi and Blood Deficiency
Weakness in the limbs (especially in the affected area), Dull lingering pain (slow healing), Visible wasting of muscles, Dizziness, Fatigue, Pale face, Poor appetite, Palpitations, Difficulty falling asleep
LV and KD Deficiency (Weakness of the Sinew and Bones)
Weakness in the bones and joints, Stiffness of the sinews, Chronic dull pain in the bones and joints, Low back and knee soreness, Fatigue, Dizziness, Tinnitus, Brittle bones, Slow healing
Wind-Cold-Damp Bi (Wind Dominant)
Mild to moderate pain that moves from area to area (usually in the joints), Loss of function (stiffness), Pain that comes and goes, Pain is aggravated by changes in weather (especially Wind), Patient may be averted to drafts
Wind-Cold-Damp Bi (Damp Dominant)
Pain that is fixed in nature but often has harder to define borders due to swelling, Pain is achy in nature and involves noticeable swelling, Sensation of heaviness associated with the pain, May include some loss of skin sensitivity in the affected area, Symptoms aggravated by damp weather, Often arises with SP Qi Deficiency
Wind-Cold-Damp Bi (Cold Dominant)
Aching severe twisting pain, Severe limitation of mobility with sinew contracture, Aggravated by cold, Often affects the low back and/or lower limbs
Heat Bi (Damp Heat)
Pain in the joints that is characterized as burning or hot, Visible redness in the affected area, Affected area is hot to the touch, Swelling in the area, Loss of function, Pain is relatively severe
Bone Bi (KD and LV Def w/ Damp-Phlegm)
Pain and swelling in the joints which leading to deformity of the joints and loss of articular space, Bone spurs and abnormal bone growth, Atrophy of the muscles, Stiffness in the joints, Loss of function
