Location: Forms alveoli,  walls of capillaries, linings of blood and lymph vessels, serosae

Simple Cuboidal

Function: Secretion & Absorption

Location: surface of ovaries, linings of kidney tubules, and ducts of glands

Simple Columnar

Function: Secretion and Absorption

Location: Lining of Stomach, Small and Large Intestines

Pseudostratified Columnar Epithelium

Function: Uses cilia to move mucus

Location: Lining of respiratory tract

Stratified Squamous ET

Function:  Protection of areas with friction

Locations: Outer surface of skin, mouth, esophagus, anal canal

Transitional Epithelium:

Function:  Special type of stratified squamous which can expand and contract.

Location: ONLY in the urinary system (bladder, ureters, part of urethra)
