What is a homologous series
A family of molecules that have the same general formula
Why do molecules in a homologous series have similar chemical properties?
Because they have the same functional group
Why, if the bigger the molecule is the higher the melting and boiling point will be?
Because the strength of the intermolecular forces hold the molecules together
Why do intermolecular forces of attraction break more easily in small molecules than they do in bigger molecules?
Because the forces are much stronger between big molecules and they are small ones
What are isomers?
Compound with the same molecular formula but different structural formula
Name four examples of physical properties
Colour melting and boiling point density and solubility
