What are real numbers composed of?
The combination of rational and irrational numbers.
What are imaginary numbers?
Numbers that cannot be expressed on the number line, typically denoted with the symbol i where i = √-1.
What is the main difference between rational and irrational numbers?
Rational numbers can be expressed as a ratio of two integers, while irrational numbers cannot.
What defines a rational number?
A number that can be expressed as the ratio of two integers where the denominator is not zero.
What is an example of an irrational number?
π (pi), which has non-repeating, non-terminating decimals.
What is a proper fraction?
A fraction where the numerator is smaller than the denominator.
What are natural numbers?
All positive integers starting from 1, used for counting, excluding zero.
What is the base of the decimal number system?
Base-10 number system.
How is a binary number system defined?
A base-2 number system that uses only two digits: 0 and 1.
What is a hexadecimal number system?
A base-16 number system represented by digits 0-9 and letters A-F.
What does the Commutative Property state for addition?
a + b = b + a.
What is the Identity Property of addition?
a + 0 = a.
Define the term 'dividend' in the context of division operations.
The number that is to be divided by another number.
What is the term for a quantity to be multiplied by another number?
Multiplicand.
What is the result obtained from a division operation called?
Quotient.
