Self-Esteem
The evaluative component of self-concept; one's positive or negative sense of self-worth.
Contingencies of Self-Esteem
The specific areas of life or personal qualities on which a person bases their self-worth.
Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale
A 10-item questionnaire that measures global self-esteem by assessing agreement with statements about the self.
Self-Esteem IAT (Implicit Association Test)
A computer-based test that measures automatic, unconscious evaluations of the self by assessing reaction times.
Social Comparison
Evaluating one's own abilities and opinions by comparing oneself to others.
Downward Social Comparison
Comparing oneself to those who are worse off to enhance self-esteem.
Upward Social Comparison
