What plants do we need to describe transport systems for
Herbaceous dicotyledenous plants.
What does phloem and xylem do
Xylem - Carries water and mineral ions up from the root of the plant up the stem to the leaves
Phloem - Transports organic molecules such as sugars produced by photosynthesis in the leaves.
They are both grouped together in vascular bundles , arrangement of vascular bundles is different in roots, stem and leaves.
What is found inroot hair cells
They group from a layer of external tissue called the epidermis, we then have a thick layer of cells called the cortex.
In centre of root we have vascular bundle , which is surrounded by layer of cells called endodermis.

What does cortex contain
Parenchyma cells which are found extensively in plants.
What do we have in vascular bundle
Xylem vessels in the centre, which phloem vessels around xylem

What is found in a stem cross section
Centre of plant stem is called pith, consists of parenchyma cells.
Around the edge we have epidermis and cortex, within vascular bundles, phloem are located around the edge of the stem, xylem vessels found closer to the centre.
Where does photosynthesis take place
Palisade mesophyll , which is in upper half of the leaf.
