How doe thermodynamics and kinetics dictate the outcome of most chemical reactions

  • Thermodynamics - often describe as how far a reaction will proceed. Refers to what the ratio of products to starting materials is, This is controlled by the difference in energy between starting material and products.

  • Kinetics - often described as how fast does a reaction will proceed. This is governed by the activation energy.
