Product Rule
When multiplying the same base, keep the base and add the exponents.
Product Rule Formula
b^m * b^n = b^(m+n)
Quotient Rule
When dividing the same base, keep the base and subtract the exponents.
Quotient Rule Formula
b^m / b^n = b^(m-n)
Power of One Rule
Any base to the power of 1 stays the same base number.
Power of One Rule Formula
b^1 = b
Power of a Power Rule
When raising a power to another power, keep the base and multiply the exponents.
Power of a Power Rule Formula
(b^m)^n = b^(m*n)
Negative Exponent Rule
A base to the power of a negative number is flipped to the denominator, making the exponent positive.
Negative Exponent Rule Formula
b^-n = 1/b^n
Zero Power Rule
Any base to the power of zero equals 1.
Zero Power Rule Formula
b^0 = 1
