Gospel Worldview Lecture Notes

A collection of key vocabulary terms and definitions related to the themes of the Gospel Worldview, Spiritual Formation, and Discipleship.

Gospel Worldview

A framework for understanding the world through the lens of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Disciple

A follower, learner, and student of Jesus Christ, who presumes discipline.

Spiritual Formation

The process of being conformed to the image of Christ for the sake of others.

Act 1 – Creation

God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, giving order and purpose.

Act 2 – Conflict

Human disobedience corrupts God’s good creation.

Act 3 – Covenant

God reaches out to humanity with a promise.

Act 4 – Christ

Christ completes the redemptive work of God.

Act 5 – Church

God empowers the Church to act as agents of reconciliation.

Act 6 – Consummation

God will restore the goodness of original creation.

Orthodoxy

What we believe; includes doctrines like Theology Proper, Christology, and Soteriology.

Orthopraxy

How we behave; involves discipleship, relationships, and community.

The Central Theme

Conformity to the Image of Christ, transforming the innermost part of the person.

Knowing Christ and the power of His resurrection while pressing on toward the goal.
