Why did people object so strongly to granting women the right to vote?

They believed it would disrupt the social order; it would get rid of women’s domestic roles; believed that women weren’t smart enough and women wouldn’t suited for politics

Why were the Voting Rights needed when the 15th Amendment was already in place?

because of the Literacy Tests, Poll Tax, and Grandfather Clause; the Southern states were doing whatever they can to ensure that Black people couldn’t vote, so, an Amendment had to be made to change that; this provided federal protection for the Black community to vote
