Work

When force causes an object to MOVE in the DIRECTION of the force. Measured in Joules

Newton

unit of measurement for work equal to the work done by a force of one newton (N) acting through a distance of one meter (M)

Mass

amount of stuff in something. More mass = more gravity.

Friction

force that resists motion between two objects that are touching.

Energy

The ability to do work. Can cannot be created nor destroyed. Energy can be transformed from one type to another (thermal/heat, chemical/food, mechanical/kinetic/motion, potential/stored)

Distance

Length from one point to another, can be measured in meters

Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion

This law states that forces always occur in pairs; for every force exerted, there is a force of equal magnitude but opposite direction.

Balanced Forces

When two forces acting on an object are equal in size but opposite in direction, resulting in no change in motion.

Unbalanced Forces

When two forces acting on an object are not equal in size, causing a change in motion.
