Define metallic bonding.
The electrostatic attraction between positive metal ions and delocalised electrons.
Explain metallic bonding.
In metals, outer electrons become delocalised and form a “sea of electrons.” Positive metal centres are held together by strong electrostatic forces of attraction between the metal ions and delocalised electrons. This allows metals to conduct electricity and be malleable.
