Nowadays, more and more people decide to have children later in their life. What are the reasons? Is this development positive or negative? 

The number of parents deciding to have children later in their lives is on the rise. This essay will first explain the reasons for this tendency, and secondly think that it is a negative development.

The number of parents deciding to have children later in their lives is on the rise. This essay will first explain the reasons for this tendency, and secondly think that it is a negative development. 

There are many reasons for this development, two of which are a competitive labour market and medical breakthroughs. The first factor behind it refers to competition in the job market, which may force people to work harder to secure their jobs, thereby helping them avoid a sense of fear of being made redundant in the case that they take parental leave. Therefore, they might consider carefully having children early in life.
