Integumentary System
Consists of bones, joints, and cartilage; protects and supports body organs, provides muscle attachment for movement, serves as the site of blood cell formation, and stores minerals.
Skeletal System
Composed of skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscles; produces movement, maintains posture, and generates heat.
Muscular System
Includes the brain, spinal cord, and nerves; a fast-acting control system that responds to internal and external changes and activates muscles and glands.
Nervous System
Made up of glands that secrete hormones; responsible for growth, reproduction, and metabolism, with hormonal influence circulating through the body via the cardiovascular system.
Endocrine System
Composed of the heart and blood vessels; transports oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, and wastes in the body.
Cardiovascular System
Includes lymph nodes, lymphatic vessels, and tonsils; responsible for fighting infections, cleansing blood, involved in immunity, and returning fluids to blood vessels.
Lymphatic/Immune System
Keeps the blood supplied with oxygen and removes carbon dioxide.
Respiratory System
Comprises the stomach and intestines; breaks down food, allows for nutrient absorption, and eliminates indigestible materials as feces.
Digestive System
Includes the kidneys, ureter, bladder, and urethra; eliminates nitrogenous wastes, maintains acid-base balance, and regulates water and electrolytes.
Urinary System
Composed of glands and genitalia; produces offspring with testes producing sperm and male hormones, and ovaries producing eggs and female hormones.
