Precis
A concise summary of essential points, statements, or facts
Speaker
The persona adopted by the author to deliver his or her message
Purpose
The author's persuasive intention--why they are speaking or writing
Audience
The person or people the speaker expects to receive their messages
context
the various circumstances surrounding any communication
exigence
issue, problem, or situation that causes or prompts someone to write or speak
