Spanish Speaking Countries facts

I am the 2nd largest country in South America. I have the second tallest mountain outside of Asia and in my southern region you can visit Patagonia. My population is mostly of European Descent.

Argentina

I am a landlocked country with at least 37 languages most of which are indigenous. The Andes Mountains run through my western side and I share lake Titicaca with Peru.

Bolivia

I have three different regions: the coast, the Sierra, and the jungle. Machu Picchu is one of the seven wonders of the world that is visited by many people each year. Spanish and Quechua are the most spoken languages here.

Peru

I am a large nation in North America, the only one with Spanish as my official language. I was home to the Aztecs, Mayans, and the Toltec and Olmec people, and many people visit me for my ancient ruins.

I am the largest country in Central America. Slaves were brought to work and many people are descendants of them, along with natives of the Spanish. I am home to the only freshwater lake with sharks.

Nicaragua

I am a long, thin country, with beaches, mountains, and rain forests. I am also home to a large canal that connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. My official languages are Spanish and English.

Panama

I am the only country in Africa whose language is Spanish, as an old Spanish colony. I have authoritarian government that makes life difficult here. I have many languages and ethnic groups.

I am a European country, formed by both Christian and Islamic culture. In the 20th century, I was under a dictator for over 40 years. Now I am one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.

Spain

I am the largest island in the Caribbean Sea. For a time, relations between me and the U.S were not friendly. I am famous for music and dance. Here the most popular sport happens to be baseball not soccer.

Cuba

I cover most of the northern coast of South America. I export a lot of oil and was one of the first South American colonies to rebel and gain independence. Spanish is my most spoken language.

Venezuela

I am a landlocked country. I am divided into a forested jungle and a flat plain by a river. I experienced a lot of war and political problems in the 18th and 19th centeries. My official languages are Spanish and Guarani.

Paraguy

I am on the Atlantic coast of Southern America and am the second smallest country there. Red meat is very popular here, and a popular festival is called Carnival.

Uruguay

I am part-jungle and part mountains. I am the only country in South America that touches central America, with both a Caribbean and Pacific coastline. I am famous for my coffee and emeralds.

Colombia

I am a long, thin country, the longest north-south country in the world. The driest place on earth is the Attacca desert in my northern region.

Chile

I am named for the equator, which runs through me. Off my coat are The Galapagos Islands where Charles Darwin made major discoveries that influenced his theory of natural selection.

Ecuador

I am a part of an archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. I am a territory of the United States, and my official languages are both Spanish and English.

Puerto Rico

For several years, I have been ranked as the happiest country. I am famous for my rain forests and my commitment to protecting the environment. Ecotourism is a popular activity here.

Costa Rica

I am the only country in Central America that does not touch The Caribbean sea. I have many earthquakes and volcanic activity. Many of my forests have been cut down.

El Salvador

I was the first landing site of Christopher Columbus, which was then the home of the Taino people. Now I am the most visited island in the Caribbean, due to my beautiful beaches, mountains, and old architecture.

Dominican Republic

I was once home to the center of the Mayan civilization. During the 20th century, I experienced a series of dictator ships and a 36-year-long civil war. I have a mix of Spanish and native culture.

Guatemala

I am the only country in central America without volcanic activity, though I have a lot of mountains. Along with Guatemala, I formed a large part of the Mya civilization.

Honduras
