What is the formula for percent change?
(new - original / original ) x 100%
What is the difference between a percentage-point increase and a percent increase?
Percentage points = subtraction.
Percent increase = divide the change by the original.
How do you increase a number by r%?
multiply by 1 + (r/100)
How do you decrease a number by r%?
multiply by 1- (r/100)
A quantity increases 20% and then decreases 20%. Does it return to its original value?
No.
1.20(0.80)=0.96
It's a 4% decrease overall.
