Nucleus
Structure: double membrane, pores for proteins/enzymes/RNA to flow in and out
Purpose: DNA storage, ribosome subunit assembly, RNA synthesis
Rough ER
Structure: Nuclear membrane connected, studded with ribosomes
Purpose: Proteins for membrane and secretaed protein synthesis, intracellular transportation
Smooth ER
Structure: No ribosomes, cisternae
Purpose: Lipid synthesis, detoxify, Ca storage
Golgi Apparatus
Structure: cisternae, vesicles
Purpose: Packaging, protein folding
Ribosomes
Structure: Bound or free
Purpose: RNA transcription into amino acids aka protein synthesis
Mitochondria
Structure: Own DNA, ribosomes, cristae (electrion trans chain), double membrane
Purpose: nutrients into ATP, endosymbiosis
Chloroplasts
Structure: only found in plants, stomata, (calvin), thylakoids (light rxns), own DNA+ribosomes
Purpose: photosynthesis, endosymbiosis
Lysosome
Structure: Fuses with food vacuole (phagocytosis), membrane studded with hydrolic enzymes (hydrolysis)
Purpose: digestion, apoptosis (cell suicide)
Vacuole (types+purposes)
central (plant): water, pressure (turgor)
Contractile: remove waste, osmoregulation
Food: food.
What processes happen during cellular respiration and were?
Oxidative Phosphylleration in cristae and Krebs Cycle in Matrix (Oreo Cakes Keep Melting)
What processes happen during photosynthesis and were?
Light Dependent Rxns in thylakoids and Calvin Cycle in stroma (Little Timmy Cannot Sing)
