Setting
The time and place in which the events of a story occur, including social, cultural, weather conditions, and atmosphere.
Character
A person or animal who takes part in the action of a story.
Plot
The series of events that make up a story.
Conflict
The problem or opposition of forces that ties one incident to another in a story.
Point of View
The angle from which the story is told (first person, second person, or third person).
Theme
The controlling idea or central argument the author aims to convey.
Exposition (Introduction)
The beginning of the story where characters and setting are revealed.
Rising Action
The part of the plot where events become complicated and the conflict is introduced.
Climax
The highest point of interest and the turning point of the story.
Falling Action
The portion of the plot in which events and complications begin to resolve.
Denouement / Resolution
The final outcome or untangling of events in a story.
Graphic Organizer
A visual display that helps learners organize and understand key content information.
Concept Map
A type of graphic organizer that shows a central idea with its characteristics; useful for brainstorming and activating prior knowledge.
Flow Diagram / Sequence Chart
A chart that displays a series of steps or events in the order they occur.
Compare/Contrast/Venn Diagram
A graphic organizer used to identify similarities and differences between two or more concepts.
Cause-and-Effect Diagram
A graphic organizer that highlights the direct relationship between different events or concepts.
Plot Diagram / Organizer
A graphic organizer used to illustrate the series of events that occur in a story.
