What is Screening
Evaluation process starts when OTs first receive info abt client/population
What is Bias?
Preference given to certain areas related to the assessments for certain groups of individuals that result in unfair interpretations
What is an occupational profile?
Systematic examination of client's occupational history, experiences, and priorities to guide intervention planning
What are three components of MOHO?
Performance Capacity + Habituation + Volition
What is analysis of Occupational Performance?
Process of identifying strengths and limitations in a client's performance of meaningful activity
What is Standardized Assessment?
A tool administered according to consistent procedures
Well known and available!
Norm-referenced OR criterion-referenced!
What is a NON-standardized assessment?
Assessment that are FLEXIBLE and adapt to the client
Client-centered!!!
Equipment = CHEAP
Training = not normally required!
Fulfills unmet need!
LOW COST
IPSATIVE REFERENCED!!!
What is reliability?
the degree to which a measurement is consistent aka CONSISTENTCY
What is validity?
Determines if the tool measures what it is intended to measure aka ACCURACY
What is Test-retest reliability?
the consistency of measures when the same test is administered to the same person twice.
What is Inter-rater reliability?
Comparing the ratings of two or more observers to check for agreement in their measurements.
What is Internal Consistency?
-Reliability of items within tests
-Do items measure aspects of the same thing?
What is the top-down approach in relation to evaluation?
Person occupation; measured by client's performance of life roles (ADLs)
What is the bottom-up approach in relation to evaluation?
The components of the task that interfere with occupational performance; measured by client factors, skills, and capabilities (Manual Muscle Testing (MMT))
What is Face Validity?
a measure of how representative a research project is "at face value" and whether it appears to be a good project
What is Content Validity?
the extent to which a test samples the behavior that is of interest.
What is construct validity?
the degree to which test scores are consistent with theoretical constructs, concepts or expectations.
What is criterion validity?
The process of predicting performance on another test/real-world outcome
What is Professional Reasoning?
The process and reasoning that practitioners continually engage in to plan, direct, perform, and reflect on CLIENT CARE and OCCUPATIONAL PERFORMANCE in all settings
What is the main difference between OT and OTA in evaluation?
OTs are able to determine and initiate the evaluation, intervention, and discharge while OTAs cant!
What is the main difference between OTs and OTAs in intervention?
OTs have OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY while OTAs do NOT
What is the main difference between OTs and OTAs in outcomes?
OTs are responsible for the outcomes while OTAs must be knowledgeable about the OTs listed outcomes!
What are the important aspects of outcome measures?
- Devloped based on evaluation findings
- Outcomes are objective, measureable, and tangible
- Assist in measuring progress towards GOALS of intervention
What is norm-referenced test?
The results of a test to a normative sample
What is criterion-referenced assessment?
The measurement that matches up / compares to an established standard
What is ipsative-referenced?
Evaluate performance from prior outcomes
What are the three main aspects of PIE Testing Bias?
P = Person-related bias (favor/against a person)
I = Item Bias (Degree to which specific element being tested fits the occupation)
E = Environment Bias (The level of which context matches the environemnt)
What are the four categories of non-standardized and standardized testing?
- Observation-based
- Interview-based
- Questionnaires
- Occupational Performance-based
What are the types of SCORING?
Visual Scale
Checklist
Q-Sort (sorting of objects, pictures or words into categories)
Likert Scale (1-5)
What is Standard Deviation?
Demonstrates how close someone is to the MEAN or average!
Each test has their own SD!
What is the AOTA Occupational Profile?
Focused on client-focused approach for evaluation, intervention, and discharge!
Can be used for ALL AGES!
Semi-structured
What is the COPM (Canadian Occupational Performance Measure) ?
Standardized!
Semi-structured! (Interview)
Ipsative Assessment
Wants to identify occupational performance
Measures the client's PERCEIVED CHANGE over time
Scores = performance + satisfaction
What is the OCAIRS?
Designed for 3 components of MOHO (Volition, Habituation, and Performance Capacity)
Used to determine AREAS of NEED for OTs
Occupational Performance
Non-standardized!
Semi-structured interview
What is the OPHI-ii?
Looks at PERFORMANCE HISTORY
Non-standardized, semi-structured interview
Based on MOHO (VHOP)
3-part assessment!
Three rating scales (occupational identity, occupational competence, and occupational setting)
1-4 point scoring system!
What is the OSA (Occupational Self-Assessment) ?
Assessment based on MOHO (VHOP)
Standardized
Ipsative-referenced
Occupational Competency and Value
18+
Not appropriate for those w/ SEVERE cognitive deficits!
Competency score (1-4) and Value Score (1-3)
What is the COSA (Child Occupational Self-Assessment) ?
Assessment based on MOHO (VHOP)
Non-standardized
Ipsative-referenced
Child's occupational competency and importance
Client-focused
Ages 7-17
DOESNT produce a SCORE
What is the VQ (Volitional Questionnaire) ?
Based on MOHO (VHOP)
Looks at Motivation + Environmental Supports & Hindrances
Adults
Non-standardized
Observation-based
What is the PVQ (Pediatric Volition Questionnaire) ?
Based on MOHO
Play-based assessment
Children
Non-standardized
Observation-based
What is the SP (Sensory Profile) ?
Measures responses to sensory events
Observer-based questionnaire or self-report
Norm-referenced
Three types (SP, AASP, and the SP2 (Pediatric))
5 point likert scale
4 quadrants of processing patterns (Sensation Seeking, Sensation Sensitivity, Sensation Avoiding, and Low Registration)
What is the SPM (Sensory Processing Measure) ?
Examination of 3 areas (Sensory Processing, Praxis, and Social Participation)
Observer-rated behavior checklist
Norm-referenced

Three forms (Home, Main Classroom, and School Environments)
What is the LSQ (Life Satisfaction Questionnaire) ?
In 9 and 11-item versions
AOAs include ADLs, Depression, General Health, and overall quality of life
Ages 13 and older
Self-Assessment

6 point likert scale
What is the QOLI (Quality of Life Inventory) ?
Rates life satisfaction = outcome measure/treatment plan
Motivation builder for treatment!
Self-report questionnaire
Ages 17+ w/ 6th grade reading level
Scoring = continuum
What is Sensitivity?
The ability to CORRECTLY IDENTIFY those with a condition
What is Specificity?
The ability to correctly identify those WITHOUT a condition!
