New cards

Where did this energy come from in the lab today?

Heat

2
New cards

In the tubes with different colors, did we input energy in the form of light, heat, or electricity?

Electricity

3
New cards

What part of the salt atoms absorbed the energy, and in what form?

The electrons in an atom can absorb energy in the form of light, heat, or electricity.

4
New cards

Why do electrons want to be at the Ground State?

Electrons move to the lowest possible energy level because it is the most stable state, and if an electron is in an excited state/ higher energy level, it is unstable, and will quickly fall back down to the ground state, and it releases energy, usually as light.

5
New cards

Fill in the blanks: The Larger the electron transition, the ____ the energy, frequency, and the wavelength.

more the energy, higher the frequency, the shorter the wavelength.

6
New cards

Why are shelves called orbitals?

These shelves are called orbitals because the electrons look like orbiting planets in our solar system, (nucleus as the sun in the center).

7
New cards

What is the distance of Lithium from the center, its color, and energy level?

Lithium has three electrons, with a red color of frame, 152 pm distance, and the energy ranking is the lowest. 3

8
New cards

What is the distance of Sodium from the center, its color, and energy level?

227, Yellow, Middle Energy Ranking. 11

9
New cards

What is the distance of Cesium from the center, its color, and energy level?

300, Violet, Highest. 55
