What is Diffusion?

The movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of a low concentration

Why does diffusion not work in solids?

Particles must be able to move for diffusion to work, however in solids particles only vibrate

Why are colored solutions diluted when water is added?

The particles of the color (h.conc) move to the area of the low concentration (the water) which causes the color to fade

Liquid in which the solvent (the substance) dissolves in

Substance that dissolves in a liquid (solvent) to form a solution

Solution

Mixture which is formed when the solute (substance) has dissolved into the solvent (liquid)

Saturated Solution
