Oxygen
A colorless, odorless, tasteless gas essential to respiration.
PaO2
Arterial oxygen tension that increases with inhalation/administration of oxygen.
Hypoxia
Condition resulting from insufficient oxygen in the tissues.
Hypoxemia
Condition of having insufficient oxygen in the blood (SPO2 <94%).
Dosage for Nasal Cannula
1-6 L/min providing 24% - 44% O2 concentration.
Contraindication for oxygen administration
Known paraquat poisoning.
Pulmonary vasodilator
A substance that dilates blood vessels in the lungs.
BVM (Bag-Valve Mask)
Device used to provide positive pressure ventilation with oxygen flow at 15 L/min.
CO2 retention
The buildup of carbon dioxide in the body, which may occur with insufficient oxygen flow.
Hyperoxygenation
Providing increased oxygen levels during certain medical procedures, like BVM PPV.
