P.A.R.E’s goal is to inform students about the public health concern of antibiotic resistance and find a solution
We study soil because antibiotic pollutants are in the environment due to runoff and people throwing away their medication prescriptions.
Antibiotic resistance will be widespread in settings of high antibiotic concentration.
For this experiment we had to collect soil we chose ours from outside of an emergency room, we performed a series of serial dilutions with this soil and incubated it at 28 degrees for 72 hours, Our results were recorded and we did calculations for our CFUs.
Our antibiotic resistance percentage was significantly lower than all the other sample groups.
The Tet 3 antibiotic was shown to be more effective through our data because it had the highest antibiotic resistance percentage.
