Microscope
A tool that magnifies small objects, allowing us to see tiny living organisms.
Cell
The basic unit of life, all living beings are made up of cells.
Organism
Any living being, either plant or animal, consisting of one or more cells.
Microorganism
Living organisms that are too small to be seen with the naked eye, often unicellular.
Unicellular
An organism made up of a single cell.
Multicellular
Organisms that consist of multiple cells.
Cytoplasm
The fluid inside a cell that contains various components necessary for cellular processes.
Nucleus
The part of a cell that regulates all activities and contains genetic material.
Cell wall
An additional outer layer found in plant cells that provides structure and rigidity.
Vacuole
A large, membrane-bound space in plant cells used for storage and maintaining cell shape.
Photosynthesis
The process by which green plants use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water.
Decomposition
The process by which microorganisms break down dead organic material, recycling nutrients.
Biogas
A mixture of gases produced by the anaerobic digestion of organic matter, useful as a fuel.
Lactobacillus
A type of bacteria used in the production of yogurt and in many fermentation processes.
Chloroplast
An organelle found in plant cells that conducts photosynthesis.
Anton van Leeuwenhoek
The first scientist to observe and describe microorganisms using simple microscopes.
Robert Hooke
The scientist who coined the term 'cell' after observing cork under a microscope.
Yeast
A type of fungus used in baking and fermentation, which releases carbon dioxide.
Microalgae
Microscopic, plant-like organisms that produce oxygen and are a food source for aquatic animals.
Nucleoid
The region in a bacterial cell containing the genetic material, not enclosed by a membrane.
Stain
A coloring agent used in microscopy to enhance the visibility of cell structures.
