Flexion
Bending at the joint, decreasing the joint angle between the two bones
Extension
Stretching at the joint, increasing the joint angle between 2 bones
Abduction
Body part is moved away from the midline
Adduction
Body part is moved towards the midline
Plantar Flexion
Increasing the angle between the top of your foot and your shin(pointing toes)
Dorsi Flexion
Decreasing the angle between the top of your foot and your shin
Supination
Palm faces up, lying on your back
Pronation
Rotating the forearm, so the palm is facing downward, lying on your stomach
Inversion
Turning the sole of your foot toward the midline
Eversion
Turning the sole of your foot away from the midline
External Rotation
Twist or turn away from the midline
Internal Rotation
Twist or turn toward the midline
Elevation
Movement in the upward direction
Depression
Movement in the downward direction
Circumduction
Combination of flexion, extension, abduction and adduction
Opposition
Connecting the pad of your thumb to the pad of another finger
Reposition
Moving the thumb back to its orginal position
Protraction
Movement of pushing forward
Retraction
Movement of pulling backwards
Prone
lying flat with your chest down
Supine
Lying flat on your back with your chest up
