Exam is on Thursday, May 15th for B day classes and Wednesday May 14th for A day classes.

Tripping

making another player stumble or fall with your hockey stick

High Sticking

lifting the blade of your stick higher than your waist

Delay of Game

trapping the puck so that others cannot hit it

Checking

excessive bodily contact with your opponents.

Lifting the Puck

the puck should not come off the floor higher than your shins, unless it is a shot on goal.

In the Crease

stepping into or putting your stick into the goalie crease when you’re not the goalie.

How many penalties are in Floor Hockey?

6 (Tripping, High Sticking, Delay of Game, Checking, Lifting the Puck and In the Crease)

Forward

There are three ____ on a floor hockey team. They are the players who try to score goals.

____ play either Right ___, Left ___ or Center ___ Position. Players and/or sticks cannot enter the crease.

Center

There is one ____ per team. They are allowed to play on both sides of the court and help both offense and defense. They take the face off.

Defenders

There are two ___ on a team. It is their job to steal the puck from their opponent and help keep the puck away from the goal.

Goalie

The player who tries to stop the puck before it goes into the net. They stay in the crease during a game. They must wear protective equipment and keep the blade to the ground.

How many positions are in floor hockey?

4 (Forward, Center, Defenders and Goalie)

Goal

When the puck completely crosses the goal line. It cannot be scored when a teammate is standing in the opposite crease and the puck cannot be kicked into this area. Counts as one point.

Crease

The area surrounding the net. The goalie should remain in this area during play. Only the goalie is allowed in.

Face Off

A game begins with a ____ at the center of the playing area. Used after the team scores a goal.

Hat Trick

When a player scores three goals in a single game.

Power Play

This is when a team has one more player than their opponent because of a penalty.

Rebound

A puck that bounces off the goalie or goal post.

Assist

A player is awarded an ____ when his pass leads to a teammate’s goal. Only two can be awarded per goal.

Backhand

hitting the birdie on the non-racquet side (non-dominant) of the body.

Birdie

Double Hit

an illegal hit. Hitting the birdie twice to get it over the net.

Fault

means the rally has ended due to an error by the serving or the receiving team resulting in a point or side-out

Forehand

hitting the birdie on the racquet side (dominant) of the body

Serve

underhand stroke used to start the game

Overhand Clear

overhand stroke driving the birdie high and deep into the opponent's court

Underhand Clear

underhand stroke driving the birdie high and deep into the opponent's court

Drop

a short shot in which the birdie just clears the net, and falls close to the net in the opponent's court.

Smash

an overhead stroke in which the birdie travels at a downward angle (spike).

Drive

a hard, horizontal stroke that just clears the net.
