Chemical weathering

Is where a chemical change takes place which causes rock or Earth material to dissolve or decay.

Physical/Mechanical Weathering

The physical disintegration of rock or Earth's material by the actual breaking apart of separate particles.

Results from the physical and chemical weathering and their effects on living organisms.

Weathering

The gradual disintegration of rocks by atmospheric and weather forces that happens in one place.

Erosion

The active wearing away of the Earth surface by moving agents.

Deposition

The dumping of broken up material in certain parts of the Earth, where new rocks may form.

Transportation

The movement of weathered and eroded material from one place to another by agents like rivers, wind or ice or waves.

Denudation

The wearing away and removal of the Earth's surface by natural agents.
