Babur (1526-1530)
The founder of the Mughal Empire in India, Babur was a descendant of Timur and Genghis Khan. He established rule after winning the First Battle of Panipat in 1526 against Ibrahim Lodi, marking the beginning of Mughal dominance in the region.
Humayun (1530-1540; 1555-1556)
The second Mughal emperor known for his struggles against the Afghan and Rajput forces, and for his eventual restoration by the Persian army.
Akbar (1556-1605)
Faught the 2nd Batlle of Panipat against Hemu with the help of Bairam Khan. Akbar won and beheaded Hemu.
Jehangir (1605-1627)
Mughal Emperor and son of Akbar, known for his love of art and culture.
Shah Jahan (1628-1658)
Mughal emperor known for commissioning the Taj Mahal, a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Aurangzeb (1658-1707)
The last ruler of the Mughal Dynasty. He was known as ‘Zinda Pir’ (Living Saint). He named himself as Alamgir. He reinstated the infamous ‘Jizya’ tax system.
