The quality of being uncivilised and not Greek. The amazonomachy uses the amazons to represent the Greek triumph over barbarism.

Hercules
His 9th labour involved taking the belt from the queen of the amazons, Hippolyta. A misunderstanding led to her death and a battle with the Amazons.
