breaking down the formulas to it’s core, it does not matter if it is initial or final, or even a random letter, it is the same (KE = ½ mv² PE = mgh):

variables that are the same get canceled out, in this case, it is the mass first, then the ½ gets canceled.

cancel the ½ by multiplying it by 2 on both sides, it cancels the ½ and ads 2 onto the gh.

Mgh = ½ mv² Becomes 2gh = V
