Alternation of Generations

A plant cycle composed of two different types of life cycles:
- Diploid Sporophyte (2N)
- Haploid Gametophyte (1N)

Diploid Sporophyte

(2N)

Meiosis takes place to create haploid (1N) spores from diploid (2N) cells.

Haploid Gametophyte

(1N)

Male and female gametes are formed and fertilized.

Dominant = Haploid Gametophyte

Fern

Dominant = Diploid Sporophyte
