RSV-mAb (Nirsevimab)
Respiratory syncytial virus monoclonal antibody with the trade name Beyfortus.
VAERS
The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System used to report clinically significant adverse events.
VICP
National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program; a no-fault alternative for resolving vaccine injury claims that covers most childhood vaccines except dengue, PPSV23, RSV, Mpox, and COVID-19.
CICP
Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program; the program that covers Mpox and COVID-19 vaccine injury claims.
Shared clinical decision-making
A session where vaccinations are individually based and informed by a decision process between the health care provider and the patient or parent, used for COVID-19 in non-immunocompromised children and MenB for those aged 16–23 years.
COVID-19 vaccination (unvaccinated children 6 months–4 years)
Requires 2 doses of 2024–25 Moderna at 0 and 4–8 weeks, or 3 doses of 2024–25 Pfizer-BioNTech at 0, 3–8, and at least 8 weeks after dose 2.
Dengue vaccine (DEN4CYD)
Trade name Dengvaxia; a 3-dose series (0, 6, 12 months) for ages 9–16 years living in endemic areas with laboratory confirmation of previous dengue infection.
DTaP booster schedule
A 5-dose series administered at ages 2, 4, and 6 months, followed by booster doses at 15–18 months and 4–6 years.
Vaxelis
A combination vaccine (DTaP-IPV-Hib-HepB) preferred for the primary series in American Indian and Alaska Native infants, but not recommended for the Hib booster dose.
Hib vaccination (Elective splenectomy)
Unvaccinated persons age 15 months or older should receive 1 dose, preferably at least 14 days before the procedure.
Hepatitis B birth dose (stable, weight ≥ 2,000 g)
Administer 1 dose of monovalent HepB vaccine within 24 hours of birth to infants of HBsAg-negative mothers.
Hepatitis B birth dose (HBsAg-positive mother)
Infant receives monovalent HepB vaccine and Hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) in separate limbs within 12 hours of birth, regardless of weight.
HPV routine recommendation
Recommended at age 11–12 years (can start at age 9) as a 2-dose series if started before age 15, or a 3-dose series if started at age 15 or older.
LAIV3 (FluMist) contraindications
Includes pregnancy, anatomic/functional asplenia, immunocompromised status, cochlear implants, CSF leaks, and children aged 2–4 with asthma or wheezing.
MMR/Varicella administration preference
For dose 1 in children age 12–47 months, it is recommended to administer MMR and varicella vaccines separately unless the caregiver prefers MMRV (ProQuad).
MenACWY-TT/MenB-FHbp
Trade name Penbraya; a combination vaccine for Meningococcal serogroups A, B, C, W, Y and serogroup B.
PCV20 (Prevnar 20)
A pneumococcal conjugate vaccine that, if received, eliminates the need for further PCV or PPSV23 doses in children who have completed the series.
IPV (Inactivated poliovirus vaccine)
A 4-dose series (2, 4, 6–18 months, 4–6 years) where the final dose must be given on or after age 4 years and at least 6 months after the previous dose.
Abrysvo (RSV vaccine)
A vaccine administered to pregnant women at 32–36 weeks gestation from September through January to provide protection to the infant.
Rotavirus (RV) maximum ages
The series should not be started on or after age 15 weeks, 0 days and the maximum age for the final dose is 8 months, 0 days.
Tdap pregnancy recommendation
One dose of Tdap should be administered during every pregnancy, preferably in the early part of gestational weeks 27–36.
Arthus-type hypersensitivity
A precaution for diphtheria- or tetanus-toxoid-containing vaccines where vaccination should be deferred until at least 10 years since the last dose.
SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency)
A medical condition that is a contraindication for the Rotavirus vaccine.
Encephalopathy within 7 days of vaccination
The only contraindication specific to the pertussis component of the DTaP vaccine when not attributable to another cause.
