Pregabalin Counseling Pts
Must be used within 45d of first opening bottle
Avoid activities that need mental alertness/coordination
Avoid sudden discontinuation of drug (withdrawal, increased seizure frq)
Avoid alcohol (any use of CNS depressants)
Divalproex Indications
1. Seizure (simple/complexe absence seizure)
2. Complex, partial epileptic seizure
3. Bipolar
4. Migraine

May cause dizziness, drowsiness
Seek attention if signs of liver dysfunction during 1st 6 mo of therapy
Take with food
Do not abruptly discontinue drug

Can sprinkle capsule onto soft food (no chewing)
Gabapentin Indications
1. Partial seizure
2. Postherpetic neuralgia
Gabapentin Counseling Pts
1st dose on Day 1 → take @ bedtime
ER formulation → take w/ dinner
Avoid activities needing mental alertness/coordination (cause dizziness, drowsiness)
Wait 2 h after antacid b4 taking medication
Report worsening depression, suicidal ideation, changes of behavior
Do not abruptly discontinue drug
Lamotrigine Indications
Bipolar
Seizure (partial, adjunct, tonic-clonic)
Lamotrigine Counseling Pts
Seek medical attention if blistering, rash, yellowing of skin/eyes, unusual bruising/bleeding, shortness of breath.
Slow titration to minimize side effects
Avoid alcohol
Oral disintegrating tablet → take on tongue, allow dissolve
Levetiracetam Indications
Seizure (myoclonic, partial, tonic-clonic)

Swallow extended-release tablet whole (do not chew, break, crush)
Avoid sudden discontinuation of drug

Do not lie down for at least 30 min after taking medicine and until after you have eaten food
Swallow non-effervescent tablet with water (240mL)
Dissolve effervescent tablet in water 120mL room temp (not mineral/flavored)
Wait more than 5 min and stir solution for 10s and drink when effervescence stops
Swallow tablet before drinking/eating/taking other medicines, sit upright
Cyclobenzaprine Indications
Skeletal muscle spasms
