What is the origin of the blood supply into the posterior circulation?
Vertebral arteries
What do the vertebral arteries also directly supply?
Lateral aspect of the medulla
What do the anterior spinal (ASA) and posterior spinal arteries (PSA) branch off to supply?
The anterior (and medial) and posterior medulla respectively (and continue to descend to supply the spinal cord)
What does the posterior inferior cerebellar arteries (PICA) supply?
Posterior-lateral aspect of the rostral medulla
Where does the basilar artery ascend and what does it supply?
Ascends in the basilar groove of the basis pontis of the pons (supplying anterior aspect of pons)
What does the anterior inferior cerebellar arteries (AICA) supply?
Posterior-lateral aspect of caudal-mid pons
What do the pontine arteries supply?
rostral through to caudal medial and lateral pons
What does the superior cerebellar arteries (SCA) supply?
Posterior-lateral aspect of rostral pons
What do the posterior-medial branches of the PCA supply?
Medial aspect of midbrain
What do the posterior-lateral branches of the PCA supply?
Lateral aspect of midbrain
What do the collicular branches of the PCA supply?
Posterior aspect of the midbrain (colliculi/tectum)
