RELATIONSHIPS/FRIENDSHIP

Ninguna de la familia de Rafa aparecen en la película pero sus dos amigos Joaquín y Curro siempre están apareciendos dispuestos apoyarle

None of Rafa’s family appear in the film but his 2 friends Joaquín and Curro are always popping up ready to support him

Viajan a el país vasco aún los amigos de Rafa para ayudar a facilitar a su escape en el día de la boda intentan persuaderle que vuelva a casa

Rafa’s friends even travel to the Basque Country to help facilitate his escape on the day of the wedding.

They try to persuade him to come home.

Merche es una figura materna a Rafa y es un gran apoyo para él sino y también funciona como una amiga.

Merche is a mother figure to Rafa and is a huge support to him but also acts as a friend.

Cuando discute con Rafa en el bar en la escena initial se cubren la cara y intenten disociarse de sus acciones

Amaia’s friends are less supportive.

When she argues with Rafa in the bar in the opening scene they cover their faces and try to disassociate themselves with her actions

Koldo y Amaia parecen ser figuras más solitarias en su pueblo natal y parece que tiene que aprender como construir relaciones buenas

Koldo and Amaia are more solitary figures in their hometown and seem to have to learn how to build relationships

HUMOUR

La mayoría del humor se centra en Rafa y la división entre el norte y sur

The isolated moments when it appears a line has been crossed always concludes in a light hearted manner.

For example when one member of the group involved in the street protest throws a Molotov cocktail y the confrontation escalates

La película subraya el hecho de que despues de haber vivido con la etiqueta del terrorismo durante mcuhas decadas la gente vasca se encuentra cada vez más libre de tales prejuicios y puede celebrar libremente la belleza y el exitó de su región a demás de España

The film highlights the fact that after living with the label of terrorism for many decades the Basque people are increasingly free of such prejudices and can openly celebrate the beauty and success their region to the rest to the wider world

THEME 4

LOVE

Ochos Apellidos Vascos es un historia amor similar a el estilo de Romeo y Juelieta los Montagues y los Capulets siendo el norte y el sur.

Todos están en contra de esta la relacción loca al fin y cabo todo resulta bien

Ochos Apellidos Vascos is a Romeo and Juliet style love story the Montagues and the Capulets being the North and South.

Everything is against the crazy relationship but in the end there’s a happy ending

Cuando se conocen por primera vez en el bar Rafa echa a Amaia por haber interruptido su turno cómico

Pero su discusión lleve a la pasión y se empiezan besar y van a la casa de Rafa.

No pasa nada en la casa y Amaia se va sale la manaña siguiente sin despedirse

When they first meet at the bar Rafa throws Amaia out for disrupting his comedy act

But their argument lead to passion and they start kissing and go to Rafa’s house.

Nothing happens at the house and Amaia leaves the next morning without saying goodbye

Rafa cree en el amor primer flechazo y quiero que Amaia sienta igual de la mísma manera.

Mientras Amaia es más tradicional y tarde en mucho tiempo a desarrollar una relación.

Al final Rafa empieza disfrutar la conquísa grande

Rafa believes in love at first sight and wants Amaia to feel the same

Whereas Amaia is more traditional and takes a long time to develop a relationship.

La relaccíon entre Koldo y Merche se nace muy rapidamente.

Su amor se base en la madurez - el sabio y una experiencia compartida de las subidas y antibajos de la vida

Koldo and Merche’s relationship blooms very quickly. Their love is based on maturity - wisdom and a shared experience of life’s ups, and downs

Koldo and Merche still represent the North South divide but they overcome it very quickly. Whne Koldo realises where Merche is from he recognises his own narrow mindedness

Amaia no le hace gracia este chiste y insulta a los andaluces que están en la audiencia diciendo que eran una panda de vagos.

Amaia doesn't find this joke funny and insults the Andalusians in the audience, saying they were a bunch of lazy people.

Se ha de decir que el cambio de Rafa es drástico

If it hadn't been for Amaia's influence

No obstante, a medida que se desarrolla la película, estos sentimientos enfrentados van cambiando hasta que se convierten en amor verdadero.
