Multifunctional device

These devices perform multiple functions such as inputting and outputting – Printer + touch screen, Laptop + Tablet  

Personal Computers

These are small inexpensive computers for use by individuals – Laptops, Desktops 

Mobile Devices

Technology that is portable and can give people internet access on the go – Smartphones, Tablets  

Servers

These powerful computers provide services to other computers connected to a network – Mail server, Data server. 

Entertainment Systems

These are devices used for entertainment such as watching television or playing games – Xbox, Tv 

Digital Cameras

These are used to capture videos and images digitally using an image sensor to store them - Camera, Video Cameras 

Navigation Systems

These devices use GPS receiver to locate the user position on a digital map and provide direction to destination - Sat Nav, GPS location software like google maps. 

Communication devices and systems

These devices send =and receive analogue and digital signals to and from another device - WIFI dongle, Router. 

Data Capture and Collection Systems e.g., barcode scanner EPOS

These devices collect and input data through automated systems rather than direct data entry - Barcode scanner, EPOS (Electronic Point of Sales Systems), Card reader.

Personal Computer include devices like desktops and laptop. However, there are some fundamental differences between a desktop and laptop. List three features that differ from a desktop. 

1. Laptops are portable whereas desktop computer are not. 

2. Laptop's have built in hardware such as a mouse and keyboard. 

3. The laptop can run off AC power, batteries, or mains power, whereas the Desktop can only run off the main powers.
