Theory of plate tectonics
LITHOSPHERE - Crust and uppermost part of the mantle constitutes the earths strong, rigid outer layer.
ASTHENOSPHERE - is a hotter weaker region in the mantle, lies below LITHOSPHERE
ROCKS in ASTHENOSPHERE are solid but are quite ductile. It responses a SLOW FLUID LIKE FLOW to the forces acting on them.
