What are the characteristics of a Realistic personality type?
Prefer work that requires technical, mechanical, physical, or athletic skill. May have trouble expressing yourself. Prefer to deal with things, plants, or animals rather than with ideas or people.
What are the characteristics of an Investigative personality type?
Like to learn, know, and analyze. Good at understanding and solving math and science problems.
What are the characteristics of an Artistic personality type?
Like to use their imagination and creativity. Do not like to follow rules.
What are the characteristics of a Social personality type?
Concerned about others and their needs. Enjoy communicating with and helping people.
What are the characteristics of an Enterprising personality type?
Enjoy influencing and leading others. Communicate well and are self-confident. Like to try new and adventurous things.
What are the characteristics of a Conventional personality type?
Like routine and rules. Prefer to be a follower rather than a leader. Good at working with written records and numbers.
What is a job?
You are employed and get paid for working. Often needs basic training.
What is an occupation?
Work that you do. Usually requires special education, training, or skill.
What is a career?
An occupation that you have for a large part of your life which provides opportunity for progression, promotion and/or raises.
What is a Career Field?
A grouping of occupations that have common skills, knowledge, and work settings.
What is the National Curriculum Statement?
A policy on curriculum and assessment at school that explains what knowledge, skills and values you should learn, and provides access to higher education.
What are the compulsory subjects that have to be studied from Grade 10 to 12?
Two official languages (Home Language and First Additional Language), Mathematics/Literacy, Life Orientation, and three other subjects.
What is a bursary?
Amount of money that a student is given to help pay for college/university study. You do not have to pay it back.
What is a student loan?
Money you borrow from the bank to fund your studies, which you have to pay back, after you finished your studies. Bank charge interest.
What is a scholarship?
Awarded by companies, businesses and organisations and you did very well at school in studies/sport
What is a learnership?
Earn while you learn. Study theory at college/training center and practice what you learn in a real job. You get paid for the work and get a qualification at the end of the training program.
What is stereotyping?
Believing, unfairly, that all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same. It can be positive or negative.
What is income tax?
Tax that all individuals and companies must pay on what they have earned and the profits they have made.
What is PAYE (Pay As You Earn) tax?
Tax that is deducted every month from a monthly salary if you earn more than a certain amount. (R6 312,50)
What is provisional tax?
A method of paying income tax where any person who receives income other than a monthly salary from one employer must estimate how much they will earn in a year, then pay a percentage of that to SARS.
