Crucible

A small container made up of ceramic or metal which is able to withstand high temperatures, and therefore, it is generally used to melt elements.

Beaker

A cylindrical glass container used for making up solutions, holding hot or cold water or ice baths, and so on.

Hotplate

A laboratory device useful for heating solutions, making up an agar culturing medium, and so on.

pH meter

An instrument used to measure the pH (acidity or basicity) of substances.

Thermometer

An instrument that measures the temperature of substances.

Forceps

Tools used to hold or pick up small objects, available in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Spatula

A tool shaped like a spoon used for mixing substances into a solution, stirring the solution, and scrapping objects.

Wash Bottles

Flexible bottles mainly used to rinse various laboratory materials, allowing the user to adjust the water pressure as per the need by squeezing the bottle accordingly.

Bunsen burner or alcohol burner

An apparatus that produces a single open flame, used for heating and sterilization purposes in the various experiments conducted in labs.

Insect nets

Insect collecting nets composed of a net bag made of cloth or fine mesh attached to a wire loop, which is attached to a wooden or metal pole.

Fishing net

A net used for fishing made from fibres woven in a grid-like structure, usually formed by tying a relatively thin thread; some are also called fish traps.

Compound Light Microscope Magnification

The total magnification produced as the product of the eye lens and objective lens magnifications (for example, a x10 eyepiece and x40 objective produce a total magnification of x400).
