The olfactory nerve is a sensory nerve that deals with smell.
What is cranial nerve II? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
the optic nerve is a sensory nerve that is responsible for vision/sight
What is cranial nerve III? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
the oculomotor nerve is a motor nerve that is involve with majority of eye movement, as well as lifting the eyelids. Pupil dilation is also involved.
What is cranial nerve IV? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
the trochlear nerve is a motor nerve that is involved with eye movement from one muscle being the superior oblique
What is cranial nerve V? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
the trigeminal nerve carries sensory and motor nerves. It is involved with feeling (sensory) to the face and forehead, nasal skin area, and movement (moto) of the upper and lower jaw.
-has three branches.
-V1: opthalmic moves thru superior orbital fissure
-V2: mandibular moves thru foramen rotunda
-V3: maxillary moves thru foramen oval

abducens is motor nerve involved in lateral eye movement. (abducts the eye to side)
What is cranial nerve VII? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
the facial nerve is sensory and motor. it is involved with some taste on the front of the tongue and facial movement/ expressions
What is cranial nerve VIII? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
vestibulocochlear nerve is sensory nerve involved with hearing and balance
What is cranial nerve IX? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
glossopharyngeal is sensory and motor. It is involved with some taste in the back of the tongue, movement for swallowing, and stimulates salivary glands
What is cranial nerve X? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
the vagus nerve is sensory and motor. “the wonderer”. some taste. stops in abdomen at the left colic flexor of the large intestine
What is cranial nerve XI? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
spinal accessory is motor nerve that helps with shoulder movement and head turning. trapezius and sternocleidomastoid
What is cranial nerve XII? Is it sensory, motor or both? What does it do/ function?
hypoglossal is motor nerve involved with tongue movement
