Hypothesis
A possible explanation to a scientific question based on a few observations.
Manipulated Variable
The variable that you purposely change when conducting an experiment.
Controlled Variable
The variables that you hold constant when conducting an experiment.
Responding Variable
The variable that you measure in an experiment.
Stereo Microscope
The type of microscope used in class.
Physical Science
The study of matter and energy.
Earth Science
The study of the features of Earth and its science.
Life Science
The study of all living things.
Scientific Law
A rule that describes a pattern in nature, such as Newton's law of motion or The law of conservation of Energy.
Scientific Theory
An explanation of observations or events that is based on knowledge gained from many observations and investigations, such as The theory of relativity or The big bang theory.
Qualitative Evidence
The evidence gathered from your five senses.
Quantitative Evidence
Evidence that uses numbers, data, or facts.
Eyepiece
A labeled component located at the top part of the microscope.
Focusing Knob
A component of the microscope used for focusing the image.
Stage Clips
Components of the microscope used to hold stage objects in place.
