Metacarpals
the five bones of the palm of the hand.

Metacarpal 1
The shortest metacarpal in the thumb. Has a more broad, robust shaft compared to the others

Metacarpal 5
Metacarpal that bears only 2 basal (at the bottom/base) facets and can be identified by the ridge on the dorsal side

Proximal Manual Phalanges
Small finger bones closest to the metacarpals

Intermediate Manual Phalanges
Finger bones that articulate with distal and proximal phalanges. Not present in the thumbs

Distal Manual Phalanges
Smalles finger bone that is farthest from the metacarpals. Has Apical Tufts on the ends of them.

Scaphoid
Kidney-bean shaped carpal bone

Lunate
Crescent-shaped carpal bone situated that articulates with the radius.

Pisiform
Smallest carpal bone that is round in shape

Hamate
Carpal bone that looks like a hammer

Capitate
Carpal bone that looks like a bust of a person

Talus
Second largest of the tarsal bones that looks like a snail

Head of Talus
Rounded, convex, distal articular surface of the Talus that fits into the hollow of the Navicular

Calcaneous
Heel bone. The largest of the tarsal bones.

Sustentaculum Tali
Bony shelf extending from the medial side of the Calcaneous bone.

Navicular
Skinny crescent-shaped tarsal bone with a distinct concave articular surface on the proximal side and a triple articular surface on the distal side.

Cuboid
Lop-sided cube-shaped tarsal that pinches inwards on the lateral side

Lateral Cuneiform
Slightly bent rectangular dorsal face

Medial Cuneiform
Has a distinct tear-drop shaped articular surface. Largest of the three

Intermediate Cuneiform
Square-shaped dorsal side. Smallest of the three

Metatarsals
Five foot bones

Metatarsal 1
Most medial foot bone; thickest of the five

Metatarsal 5
Most lateral foot bone that has a protrusion that extends proximally on the lateral side.

Proximal Pedal Phalanges
Toe bones that articulate with the metatarsals

Intermediate Pedal Phalanges
Toe bones that artculate with the proximal and distal phalanges. Look like small hourglasses. Not present in the big toe

Distal Pedal Phalanges
Toe bones that are farthest from the metatarsals. Very small except in the big toe.
