Root
A solution to a polynomial equation where the polynomial equals zero.
-intercept
The point where the graph of a polynomial crosses the x-axis.
Degree of a polynomial
The highest power of the variable in a polynomial function.
Double root
A root where the factor appears twice in the polynomial, causing the graph to touch the x-axis and turn back.
Complex roots
Roots that are not real numbers and often occur in conjugate pairs in polynomials with real coefficients.
Point of inflection
A point on the graph where the curvature changes direction.
Triple root
A root where the factor appears three times in the polynomial, leading to a flat spot at that root on the graph.
Distinct roots
Roots that are different from each other.
Polynomial function
A function that can be expressed in the form of a polynomial equation.
Graph of a polynomial
A visual representation of a polynomial function on a coordinate plane.
